WroWelo Track II

The second edition of WroWelo Track (pronounced VroVelo) was bound to happen. It was just a matter of time.

Nobody, absolutely nobody was going to let the first edition be a one time event.

But maybe I can start from the beginning and let you know what it is that I’m talking about.

Pruszków, a small town on the suburbs of Warsaw, Poland’s capital city, has become famous in the recent years for its one of the world’s fastest velodromes. The home of 2009 and 2019 World Track Championships. Until not long ago reserved for the pros, it recently opened its track to amateur racing. And what an event it was!

The programme had most of the regular competitions but the rules were adjusted a bit to accomodate amateur cyclists. And this way, based on best 200 m. flying lap times, the peloton was split into the first half (Group A) and the second (Group B). This allowed riders to compete against cyclists with similar skills and form.

Women raced in a separate category.

And now, participants of the first edition said: „We want more”, and the organizers said „Ok, come by on March 7 and 8th”.

What more can I say. This is a great opportunity for amateur cyclists to race on an excellent track, spend a great weekend and have plenty of fun.

During the 2 days, there will be racing in:

200m flying lap
Keirin
Sprint
Scratch
Elimination race
500/1km Time Trial
